Q1How much is the course and can I pay in instalments?
The close protection course costs £2,660, which must be paid in advance. The HECPO course costs £1,800, of which £500 must be paid as a deposit and the balance is deducted as a lump sum from your first invoice in country.
Q2I am still serving in the UK Armed Forces and have already used my resettlement grant to pay for the CP course, can I use my Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to pay for the HECPO?
The Close Protection Course qualifies under the ELC scheme, but unfortunately the HECPO course is not on the ELC approved course provider list. However resettlement can be used to contribute towards HECPO.
Q3Do I require a Security Industry Authority (SIA) License Level 3 (Frontline) to work with Control Risks?
The SIA level 3 Close Protection (frontline) license is a requirement for all contracts we work on.
Q4Will I get a job if I successfully complete the course(s) and get my SIA licence?
Control Risks is always looking for talented people to work on our contracts both in the UK and abroad, and we actively recruit from course attendees. All personnel who successfully complete the HECPO course will be considered as a priority for any potential positions with Control Risks.
Q5How do I book on a course?
To book a place on one of our courses, please complete our enquiries form.
Q6Do I need to be fit to complete this course?
The course(s) are physically and mentally demanding. Students must be in a fit and healthy condition.
Q7What is the minimum criteria to be considered for your courses and a position?
There is no minimum criterion to attend our Close Protection course. A potential HECPO delegate and operator must have a minimum of 7 years regular military service and 3 operational tours in a hostile environment.
Q8I have done a CP course with a company which is not recognised by the SIA, can I do a refresher CP course with you, to cover all the modules required for SIA level three (frontline)?
In advance of the course start date, candidates must provide evidence of the training they have received. Depending on the extent to which the learning objectives of the ‘previous’ close protection course have been covered, candidates will be directed to take the full 2 week course or the 3 day refresher course, as appropriate.
Q9Do I need to bring a laptop and is internet access free?
A laptop is not compulsory but would be extremely useful for coursework out of hours. The training school is equipped with Wi-Fi and a limited number of laptops.
Q10Are there laundry facilities at the Training School?
Yes there are free laundry facilities.
Q11I am a female wishing to do your CP/HECPO course(s), do you have separate facilities or do I have to share mixed accommodation?
